On Saturday, November 16, the GMP program held its inaugural Alumni Gathering, bringing together GMP faculty members, the first cohort of GMP alumni who graduated in March 2024, and current cohorts of GMP students. The event created a vibrant atmosphere of connection and learning, fostering meaningful interactions across cohorts.
For the fourth-year students in the second cohort, the gathering was a joyful reunion with their seniors, with whom they had worked during last year’s GMP forums and overseas study trips. The room buzzed with laughter and conversations as they reminisced about shared memories and exchanged updates. Meanwhile, third-year students from the third cohort, who had fewer opportunities to interact with alumni in the past, strengthened their connections during the third GMP Career Forum held earlier that day in 2024.
Discussions covered a wide range of topics, from recent GMP activities to job-hunting experiences, creating an engaging and dynamic exchange. For the alumni, reconnecting with GMP faculty members was a highlight of the event, further enriching the friendly and warm atmosphere.
Reflecting on the gathering, Shuji Motoda, a fourth-year student, shared, “This alumni event was a wonderful opportunity to connect with seniors and juniors I hadn’t interacted with much before and to expand my network within GMP. As someone preparing to start my career in April 2025, it was incredibly inspiring to hear firsthand accounts from the alumni about their professional experiences. It motivated me to make the most of my remaining time as a student. I also aspire to become a source of encouragement for future GMP students, just as the alumni have been for me.”
The first GMP Alumni Gathering not only strengthened relationships across cohorts but also served as a platform for exchanging insights and inspiration. It exemplified GMP’s dedication to cultivating a strong, supportive community that continues to thrive beyond graduation.
