GMP’s Inaugural Cohort Celebrates Graduation

On March 25, 2024, the Global Management Program (GMP) at Waseda University celebrated a significant milestone with the graduation of its first cohort of 39 students. The momentous ceremony, held in Classroom 505 of Building No. 11, was attended by the graduating students, their parents, GMP faculty members, and the second cohort of GMP students.

Professor Hirota, Director of GMP, opened the ceremony with an inspiring speech. Emphasizing the program’s core value of “contribution,” he encouraged the graduates to apply the knowledge and skills they had acquired at GMP to make meaningful contributions to society. After Professor Hirota’s stirring words, each zemi faculty presented their respective students with graduation certificates. The ceremony was followed by a group photo session that encapsulated the strong bonds forged between the instructors and students over the past two years. As they posed together, the room was filled with laughter and smiles, a testament to the cherished memories and friendships they had nurtured during their time at GMP.

Following the GMP graduation ceremony, a lively graduation party was held for the graduates and faculty members. The atmosphere remained vibrant as everyone shared fond memories of their time at GMP and raised their glasses to toast their successes and bright futures ahead. A highlight of the celebration was a heartfelt video presentation that showcased the graduates’ two-year GMP experience and featured touching messages to each other and to the program. As the video played, a wave of emotion swept through the room, evoking cherished memories and underscoring the deep bonds they had formed.

As the two-hour party drew to a close, the GMP’s first cohort celebrated their remarkable achievements and the lasting bonds they had formed with a deep sense of fulfillment and gratitude. Throughout their journey, they faced challenges head-on, supported one another, and emerged as a resilient and accomplished group. Now, they stand ready to make their mark on the world, armed with the knowledge, skills, and relationships they had cultivated during their time at GMP.

One of the graduates, reflecting on their experience, shared, “Being part of the inaugural cohort of GMP and working alongside the faculty to establish the program has been an invaluable experience. I believe the skills and knowledge I’ve gained will serve me well in the future. With three cohorts and 150 students now enrolled, I consider my involvement in GMP a lifelong achievement. My hope is that GMP graduates will continue to gather regularly, forming a strong network that contributes to the ongoing growth and success of the program.”

The graduation of the first cohort of GMP students marks a significant milestone in the program’s history, setting a high standard of excellence and paving the way for future cohorts to thrive and contribute to society. The legacy of dedication, resilience, and camaraderie established by these pioneering graduates will continue to inspire and empower GMP students for years to come.
