The School of Commerce and the Graduate School of Commerce would like to reiterate our policy on this matter. Although there are some overlaps with Waseda University’s view, please be sure to confirm the policy.
①The use of the generative AI tools is not prohibited, but it is expected to be used carefully.
②The use of the generative AI tools in each class is determined by each instructor. Please follow the instructions of them.
③In order to achieve the objectives set in each class, it is necessary to acquire knowledge and improve thinking skills. From this perspective, it is not acceptable to submit the output of the generative AI tools as is for assignments, etc.
④Whether or not you use the generative AI tools, it is essential that you provide sources and evidence for your academic work, and clearly state the extent to which ideas are your own. In addition to the usual issues of plagiarism, etc., please be aware that there are various legal risks involved, such as copyright infringement and use of discriminatory terms.
⑤The results of the generative AI tools may contain many errors and biases. You should thoroughly check the authenticity of the results you use before using them.
⑥Results entered into the generative AI tools may be used for other purposes. Needless to say, personal information, confidential information, or unpublished research results should not be entered.
⑦Although they are not perfect, tools for determining the use of generative AI tools are currently being developed.
⑧The above precautions are based on information as of July 2023 and may be updated in the future.
