To allow more researchers to use the Research Collection Stacks on the 3rd floor of the International House of Literature (Waseda Campus Building 4), eligibility will be expanded as follows starting Friday, April 3, 2026.
Expanded Eligibility:
- Waseda undergraduate students
- Library Card (Blue) holders
Eligibility List after the modification:
Waseda University faculty, staff, graduate students, undergraduate students and Library Card (Green/Blue) holders
*Individuals affiliated with research institutions outside Waseda University should inquire in advance about the possibility to use the Research Collection Stacks at the following email address: [email protected]
Eligible users may borrow some of the open-shelf materials.
Waseda undergraduate students may borrow materials only for the purpose of writing their graduation thesis. A letter of introduction from a full-time faculty advisor supervising the thesis (using the designated form) is required. Please inquire at the Research Collection Service Desk.

The opening days, hours, and usage conditions for the Research Collection Stacks differ from other areas of the International House of Literature.

The Research Collection Stacks comprehensively house the vast number of overseas translations of Haruki Murakami’s works that could not be accommodated in the 1st floor Gallery Lounge. They also hold research books and related materials concerning Haruki Murakami’s literature. A research lounge is also available outside the room.
