Hi everyone! Welcome to the Waseda University! I am Yunying Chai, a member of Student Advisers for Waseda Culture. Our job as Student Advisers is to spread and create Waseda’s culture.”Waseda Culture & Art Week” is an event to introduce a wide variety of culture and arts of Waseda University. This year, the event will be held from October 10 (Mon., national holiday) to October 21 (Fri.), the anniversary of celebration of Waseda University. About 40 events such as concerts, live performances, lectures, exhibitions, and stamp rallies will be held simultaneously. Today, I would like to introduce a selection of events that I recommend to international students that are easy to attend. Please come and experience the charm of “Waseda Culture”. Many of them have application periods, so don’t forget to sign up online. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Museum Stamp Rally

Let’s walk around the Museums on Campus and join in the Museum Stamp Rally! Stamp one card on top of another to create a colorful illustration. Try to find the stamps at five different locations on campus to create your own original stamp card.

Here is the recommended stamp rally sequence.Still, you can start from any facility.  No reservation required for joining in.
(1) Waseda Sports Museum (Waseda Arena 3rd floor), Toyama Campus.
(2) 125th Memorial Hall (Okuma Memorial Tower, 10th floor), Waseda Campus.
(3) Aizu Museum (Building No. 2), Waseda Campus.
(4) Theatre Museum (enpaku. Building No. 5), Waseda Campus.
(5) Waseda University History Museum (Building No. 1), Waseda Campus.

Wasemeshi Stamp Rally

Have you noticed there are many restaurants and cafes around Waseda University?  In these places, you might experience new encounters and discoveries. Don’t be surprise. There are part of our Waseda Culture. Here you can take part in a fun event called the “Wasemeshi Stamp Rally” and win a prize This year, we will offer every prize winner an original Waseda T-shirt made by Asics. Let’s wear them with your friends and go watch the  Sokei Sen!

How should I join in?

STEP 1: Have lunch at a Wasemeshi restaurant! Fill in your name, student ID number (if you are a Waseda student), or e-mail address on the Wasemeshi Stamp Card and collect 5 stamps at Wasemeshi restaurants. Please drop your stamp card into the application box at the Waseda University History Museum (Building 1) or Waseda Sports Museum (3F, Waseda Arena) by 5 p.m. on October 24.
Note: You can find these stamp card in Waseda Museums and all the wasemeshi restaurants.Be aware that only one stamp per store is valid per card. The same stamp from same store is invalid.

STEP 2: Register your name, student ID number (if you are a Waseda student), e-mail address, etc. using the application form below by 17:00 on October 24.
*Please complete both of these two procedures, Step 1 and Step 2, by the deadline to complete your entry!

Event Period: October 3 (Mon.) – 23 (Sun.), 2022
Please note that Step 1 and Step 2 must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2022.

How to Receive Prizes

If there are too many applicants, a drawing will be held. Winners will receive an e-mail from the event office after October 25th. For details, please wait for the e-mail and winners will be asked to show the e-mail to the staff during the pick-up period. The pick up location will be the “Waseda University History Museum (Bldg. No. 1)”  and every winner will receive one “T-shirt”. Please request the color (white or yellow) of the WASEDA logo letters and size (S, M, L, XL). However, if the requested color and size are not available, from those that are available, please choose. Be aware that we cannot deliver the prizes by mail. Please come to pick up and we hope you can enjoy the exhibition in the “Waseda University Museum of History” at the same time.

Okuma LIVE

At Okuma LIVE, Waseda University student groups will bring a spectacular dance performances to us!  You will definitely find the one you want!

Participations: Getappaz (dance), TAP-LOVERS (tap dance), Twinkle (K-POP dance), Hawaiian Folk Dance Society (hula dance), Bankaraism (dance), Waseda University Cheering Club
Date & Time: Tuesday, October 11, 18:30-19:30 (enter from 18:00)
Place: Okuma Memorial Auditorium
Registration: Applications will be accepted from 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2012. We will offer spots for the first 700 applicants.

Jazz Up Waseda!

The New Orleans Jazz Club, the Modern Jazz Club, and the High Society Orchestra will hold an one-night-only special live concert at the Okuma Auditorium. The program is suitable for both jazz lovers and beginners. This is the first time we welcome these three Jazz circles to organize a collaborative session at Okuma Auditorium. So please come to join in!

Register “Jazz Up Waseda”

WASEDA Anniversary Concert 2022

The Waseda University Symphony Orchestra will offer performance to celebrate Waseda University’s anniversary on October 21. Please enjoy the sound of the full orchestra playing in the historic Okuma Auditorium.
Date and Time: October 16 (Sun.) 14:00-15:20 (enter from 13:30)

Application: Applications will be accepted from 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21. We will offer spots for the first 700 applicants.

Museum Concerts

During the Waseda Culture and Arts Week 2022, concerts by student circles will be held at four museums located at the university. It is a good opportunity to enjoy live performances of various music genres in the special spaces like the museums. If you have a time,please feel free to drop by. No reservation required.

Museum LIVE

Another live session but this time Waseda University students will give a powerful performance including Japanese drumming and dancing in front of the Aizu Museum (Building No.2). No reservation required.
Participations: SAKIGAKE-HIBIKI (taiko drumming), SARAHbelly (belly dance), Brilliant Pinks (street dance)
