A Congratulatory Message from Waseda University President Aiji Tanaka
Mitsuki Ono, a fourth-year student in the School of Sport Sciences at our university, has won the bronze medal in the Women’s Snowboard Halfpipe event at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. I extend my heartfelt congratulations.
Ono enrolled at Waseda immediately after the Beijing Winter Olympics, her Olympic debut. Though she shed tears of disappointment after placing ninth in Beijing, she overcame that frustration at this year’s Games, shedding tears of joy instead. This achievement is the fruit of her four years of dedicated effort since entering university, where she has sincerely pursued both her athletic career and the academic discipline of sports science.
Your bright smile on the podium gave great hope and courage to our students, alumni, faculty and staff. We look forward to your continued success in the future.
Waseda University Preisdent Aiji Tanaka
