Supporting Those Who Want to Study Abroad: Konpeki no Sora Scholarship Study Abroad Support System Launched
Share

The Konpeki no Sora Scholarship began accepting applications in the 2017 academic year to provide financial support to current and former residents of orphanages or family homes, or foster children raised in foster care families during their time at Waseda University.

Thanks to your donations, we have provided support to 13 students, current students included, since the scholarship was established. Six of them have already graduated from our university and are now active members of society. Your generous support provides learning opportunities for students in difficult circumstances and supports their growth.

Furthermore, as a new initiative, we will now be launching a study abroad support system for recipients of this scholarship.

The launch of this study abroad support system provides students with financial difficulties with the opportunity to study abroad and is an initiative that is aligned with Waseda University’s goal of having all students study abroad.

Thanks to your generosity, the circle of support is steadily expanding. We ask for your continued support so that financial hardship will not force students who represent the future to give up on their dreams.

About the Konpeki no Sora Scholarship

Waseda University offers the “Konpeki no Sora Scholarship” to prospective students who are currently residents or have previously resided in children’s homes or family homes, or who were raised in foster care. This scholarship is intended for students who, upon graduation from high school, are required to leave their care placement or foster home and lose access to support, making it financially difficult to pursue higher education.

This scholarship allows applicants to apply before taking the University’s entrance examination, and if selected as a prospective recipient through the screening process, they are guaranteed financial aid after admission. By providing pre-admission support and post-enrollment financial assistance, the program ensures that financial reasons do not cause hesitation to attend Waseda University and engage in academic studies and extracurricular activities.

The scholarship includes:

  1. Payment equivalent to the entrance examination fee and admission fee.
  2. Full coverage of tuition fees, laboratory and practical training fees, and other miscellaneous expenses.
  3. A housing allowance and living support grant of up to 90,000 yen per month to help students fully concentrate on their studies.
