To welcome this new year, I extend my warmest greetings to all.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your support and kindness throughout the past year.

Thanks to your generous support, the second year of my second term as the President of Waseda University has been exceptionally fulfilling, and I look forward to the year to come. My deepest thanks to you again.

Last year we began to look ahead towards year 2032, the 150th anniversary of Waseda’s founding, and into the future. We announced the framework of the project commemorating the 150th Anniversary which aims to evolve Waseda into “a university that contributes to humankind throughout the world” while also leading the transformation of society in Japan. To meet our vision for the future, we are working vigorously to promote research, education, and contribution through the convergence of knowledge.

I will continue to lead the way so that each and every faculty and staff member works together to implement necessary reforms and continues to strive for a “Waseda that shines on the global stage.” 

I respectfully request your continued support, guidance, and encouragement in this year.
