Waseda University, in partnership with Pathways Japan and the Japan ICU Foundation, has made arrangements to admit and provide support to students affected by the crisis in Ukraine who wish to continue their studies in Japan. Through the “Japan-Ukraine University Pathways” framework, we will offer admission to up to five students who have fled Ukraine as evacuees (避難学生) for September enrollment in the 2022 academic year. 

Number of Students: Maximum of 5 students

Admission Period: From September 2022
Students will first be admitted as non-degree students. Waseda plans to admit students as regular students after they have passed the university entrance exam.

Available Support:
1. Travel Support: Cost of travel to Japan
2. Living Expenses Support: 70,000 yen per month
3. Accommodations Support: Waseda University student dormitory fee waiver
4. Academic Fees Support: Total fee waiver 

Waseda will continue to implement programs going forward in order to provide support for those who have been affected by the crisis in Ukraine and are facing challenges maintaining their studies or research. The University has also set up a donation fund to help provide various types of support for students affected by natural and other disasters, including support for evacuee students from Ukraine.

With the support from the Nippon foundation (covering Travel Support and Living expenses), Waseda university changed the amount of supports.  Surplus produced by adding the support from the Nippon foundation will use for support for Ukrainian students including Accommodation support, tuition waiver and other supports.
