First year student at the School of International Liberal Studies
I came from Korea this spring to study at the School of International Liberal Studies (SILS). My mother graduated from a Japanese university and recommended I study at Waseda. Because I had not decided on a major, SILS was very attractive because it allowed me to join an international community not far from home and participate in a wide range of courses. I believe I will be able to discover my areas of interest and pursue my dreams here.
I am currently attending politics, economics, and psychology classes. Studying with people from diverse cultural backgrounds has inspired me to explore intercultural-related fields. I am not yet certain which field I want to pursue, but in the future, I would like to be involved in activities that help protect the rights of women living overseas.
One of the greatest difficulties for me studying and living in Japan is the use of polite Japanese. I find it very difficult to use different forms of speech when talking to my friends and to those who are older. On the other hand, a wonderful experience for me living in Japan is eating Japanese food. Japanese food is delicious and I have been enjoying a variety of flavors.
As you may notice, I am enjoying every day of my life here. If I have the opportunity, I would like to pursue my dreams in Japan after graduation. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for me.
