Waseda University conducted its Fall 2014 Graduation and Degree Conferral exercises on September 20 in the historic Okuma Auditorium. This is the fourteenth year since the University began holding autumn ceremonies.
The University granted 853 bachelor degrees, one art school degree, 427 master’s and professional degrees and 95 doctoral degrees, to a total of 1376 people embarking on new journeys. Of those, 528 were international students. Future plans included advanced study at other top schools and employment at companies in Japan and abroad. Many families traveled from overseas to attend the ceremonies, representing Waseda’s global diversity.

President Kaoru Kamata praised the graduates for their “broad learning and deep expertise cultivated through Waseda’s educational program and extracurricular activities,” and charged them, with that and their high character as a foundation, to continue learning throughout their lives, “as true global leaders who work for world peace and the good of humankind.”
