Hanyu at 2016 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in Marseille, France (Kyodo)
Waseda student Yuzuru Hanyu (22, ANA) broke the world record he set himself last year, winning four consecutive men’s titles at the ISU Grand Prix Final in Marseille, France. He finished with the total score of 293.90.
In 2014, when he won the gold medal at the Sochi Winter Olympics, Hanyu, who studies Human Informatics and Cognitive Sciences at Waseda University’s e-School, shared his feelings on academics. With interests in psychology, statistics, and even mathematics, Hanyu said that studying the human sciences is a great way for him to scientifically examine his techniques and artistic expressions in figure skating.
Waseda University heartily congratulates Hanyu, a successful student and athlete, for achieving an unprecedented accomplishment.
