Restrictions for on-Campus Events After March 22, 2022
Dear Faculty, Staff, and Researchers,
Effective March 22, 2022, the new rules for holding on-campus events, including those organized by the University or Waseda faculty/staff as well as external parties, will be as noted below.
All students, faculty and staff are expected to strictly adhere to the following regulations, and these regulations will be in effect on all Waseda campuses, including campuses outside Tokyo.
The new rules for holding on-campus events:
- If an event can be switched to an online event, hold virtual events continuously.
- If an event is not suitable to an online format, on-campus events will be permitted only if adhering to one of the following cases and rules:
- Indoor, on-campus events organized by either the University or faculty/staff must not have participants exceeding half of the maximum venue capacity. Eating during the event will not be permitted.
Note: The University would prefer for external participants (except participation as the side of hosts or organizers) to attend events by online means. - Indoor, on-campus events organized by external parties must not have participants exceeding half of the maximum venue capacity. Eating during the event will not be permitted.
- All event participants must wear nonwoven fabric masks unless there are exceptional circumstances.
- In principle, no eating or drinking will be allowed during an event. However, if having meals become necessary, avoid conversations during meals and finish eating as quickly as possible. Drinking will be allowed. When cleaning up afterward, take thorough measures to prevent infection.
The above regulations are laid out to prioritize the continuation of on-campus classes and research activities. Depending on situations regarding the state of society, the government’s response policy, and Covid-19 infection, changes to the rules mentioned above may be made as appropriate.
