Analytical, critical thinking, and management skills for the future
I am an active member of the golf club on campus. I decided to pursue the Course of Sport Coaching because I wanted to objectively evaluate my own capabilities and tactics through a coach’s perspective. I am learning ways to analyze data for performance enhancement and proceed with goal orientation. This course provides opportunities for students to explore coaching methods for different kinds of sports at all levels. I also had the chance to visit Japan Institute of Sports Sciences (JISS), where top athletes train for competitions. Finding similarities between various sport categories and applying my acquired knowledge help me with my club activity. The professors who stand at the frontline of the field as coaches really inspire me, and I believe only Waseda can provide such an empowering environment. I believe the analytical, critical thinking, and management skills I have gained through this course will become my strength as a coach in the future.

Improving athletic performance and becoming a good coach
In the Course of Sport Coaching, we study topics ranging from sport coaching, coaching psychology, biomechanics, sport nutrition, to sport medicine. If you are considering to become a coach or want to improve your own athletic performance, then this is the right course for you. In classes, we analyze data scientifically to determine whether the training menu is appropriate or not. Understanding theories and making decisions based on them will become great assets if you want to become a better coach and athlete. The future of sports depends on us. I hope you will make the most out of your studies.
