On June 11, President Tanaka and Professor Gemma (Vice-president for International Relations) visited Peking University to sign a trilateral agreement with the Chinese university and Tingyi (Cayman Islands) Holding Corporation.

Peking University, one of the most renowned universities in China, signed its first university agreement with Waseda in 1982 to promote student, faculty and other exchanges. This year, a new collaborative research exchange agreement was signed to allow young researchers of various fields from both universities to present their research findings six times over a course of a year.

Over the past decades, Tingyi (Cayman Islands) Holding Corporation, one of the largest food production companies in China, have established the Tingyi (Cayman Islands) Holding Corporation Scholarships (2009 – 2014) and Master Kong Dream Scholarship Program (2016 – 2021) to provide financial assistance to Chinese students studying at Waseda University.

“Waseda University, Peking University and Tingyi (Cayman Islands) Holding Corporation have shared a long history of interaction and friendship. Over the past decades, we have collaborated in different ways to foster a new generation of leaders. Moving forward, we are now extending our collaboration into the field of research as well,” said President Tanaka at the signing ceremony.

The trilateral agreement signed on June 11 signifies the consensus reached by the three parties in enhancing collaborative research in various fields such as AI and big data, as well as fostering young researchers who are prepared to face new challenges in this new era.
