On July 23, Japan’s national team won the bronze medal in the men’s 4x100m relay at the 2017 World Para Athletics Championships in London. Hajimu Ashida 16′ and Tomoki Tagawa 10′, who were the team’s first and third runner, are graduates of Waseda University.

Ashida and Tagawa graduated from the School of Political Science and Economics and from the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering, respectively. They also took home bronze in the same event at the Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games. Furthermore, Ashida came in third place for the Triple Jump T47 event which took place on July 17, winning himself two medals in this Championship.
