Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program at Waseda University

As one of its anchor universities, Waseda University’s Double Degree Program and English-based Degree Program(EDP) in the School of Political Science and Economics (SPSE) are participating in the Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program (AFLSP). The AFLSP grants scholarships to high-calibre Asian students who wish to study away from their home country or region at one of BXAI’s Partner Universities. Under the administration of Bai Xian Asia Institute (BXAI), the AFLSP provides a platform on which students and educational institutions can cultivate lasting relationships based on mutual trust and understanding ‐‐‐ essential tools for building bridges across cultures.
The AFLSP offers scholarship recipients US$18,350 per academic year. Only undergraduate Double Degree Program (DDP) students from Partner Universities (National Taiwan University, Korea University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Peking University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University) and English-based Degree Program(EDP) students at the SPSE are eligible for the scholarship.

ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION CRITERIA
DDP applicants for this scholarship are expected to be nominated students from the partner universities. EDP applicants are expected to be prospective junior or senior students. The AFLSP Faculty Committee of Waseda University will nominate candidates to BXAI after the admissions decision, based on merit.
Scholarship recipients must satisfy the following criteria:
- Nationality of an Asian country or region
- High proficiency in English
- Possess strong personal integrity, propensity for international and intercultural understanding , compassion and willingness to serve and demonstrate his/her alignment with BXAI’s mission and vision
REQUIREMENTS
Scholarship recipients must:
- Remain enrolled at Waseda University as full-time students for the duration of their studies under the AFLSP
- Fulfill the GPA requirement as stipulated by Waseda University and BXAI
- Participate in the BXAI Summer Program, which spans up to three weeks, in the first summer after their enrollment in the AFLSP
- Participate in the Advanced Seminar
- Participate in Enrichment Program activities such as study trips, special seminars and social gatherings organized by Waseda University, and other mandatory AFLSP programs/activities as stipulated by BXAI
