From Waseda Campus Building 7: November 17, 2015
As part of Waseda University’s strategic plan, Waseda Vision 150, the University is opening communal learning spaces on campus that accommodate various learning styles. In 2014, the University opened W Space in Building 3 and in November 2015, opened another space on the first floor of Building 7.
In 2012, the student team Team Wasejo presented their plan at the Waseda Vision 150 Student Competition for a communal study area called “W(aseda) Space” that allows students to conduct group work and practice for presentations.
The new W Space in Building 7 features eight unique rooms that surround the Waseda Portal Office. Among these rooms are private rooms, bench seat booths, and tatami booths for reservation. There are spaces that do not require reservations as well as areas where students can eat, practice for presentations, and study by themselves. Students can also purchase lunch at Macheria if they get hungry. Only at Waseda can you find spaces such as these that accommodate various learning styles and allow students to choose the best environment that suits their academic needs.
