The Global 30 Project is a funding project established from 2009-2013 to promote the internationalization of universities and the education and training of global human resources. Thirteen universities were selected throughout Japan with each university implementing its own plan for internationalization.

Based on Waseda University’s long-term strategic plan, Waseda Vision 150, and the leadership of President Kamata, Waseda was awarded an “S,” the highest possible evaluation grade.

The evaluation committee commented that “Waseda University’s efforts align with our goals for internationalization and can be said to have sent waves through our education system.”

Out of thirteen universities, Waseda is one of two to receive the “S” evaluation grade, the other being Doshisha University.

Waseda’s acceptance of international students, increase in students studying abroad, implementation of courses conducted in English, entrance examinations catered to international students, dormitory that promotes cultural exchange among international and Japanese student residents, and career support center were praised in the evaluation and are considered “Leading examples for promoting internationalization among universities.”
