Seminar Rooms

seminarroom1

TWIns has four rooms on the third floor, Seminar Rooms 1, 2 , 3, 4 and 5, which are used mainly for graduate student lectures. Lectures in life science subjects require the clear projection of various images, and so the rooms are fitted with the highest quality audiovisual equipment in the university.

Shared Laboratories

sharedlab1 sharedlab2

This is where, during term times, second- and third-year students of the School of Education (Biology Specialization of the Science Course) and the School of Advanced Science and Engineering (Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Department of Life Science & Medical Bioscience, and Department of Electrical Engineering and Bioscience) conduct specialized experiments in the field of life sciences. As a place for undergraduate level experiments and practical learning, the laboratories are very spacious and enable multiple tasks to be performed simultaneously. Shelves fitted to the walls make it easier for teachers to keep an eye on proceedings and large plasma displays are also installed for lectures and presentations. These rooms are also used for collaboration projects with high schools and universities as well as practical science classes for elementary and junior high school students.

Biomechanical Engineering Professors’ Offices and Research Laboratories

sougoukikai1 sougoukikai2

The professors’ offices and research laboratories of the School of Creative Science and Engineering’s Department of Modern Mechanical Engineering, the Graduate School of Creative Science and Engineering’s Department in Modern Mechanical Engineering, and the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering’s Department in Integrative Bioscience and Biomedical Engineering are located here. Research is centered on things like medical devices and medical robots for realizing state-of-the-art healthcare.

Shop

shop1 shop2

The shop is located inside the lounge on the third floor and run by the Waseda University Co-op. Selling stationery, food and drink, and various other miscellaneous items, it is an essential part of student life at TWIns.

Life Science and Medical Bioscience Professors’ Offices and Research Labs. (Open Lab.)

opeblab1 openlab2

The professors’ offices and research laboratories of the School of Advanced Science and Engineering’s Department of Life Science & Medical Bioscience and of the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering’s Department in Life Science & Medical Bioscience are located here. The central space houses the laboratories, with the professors’ offices and student lounge to either side. The research carried out is diverse and, without walls separating the different laboratories, as the name Open Lab suggests, communication among researchers is lively.

Biology Professors’ Offices and Research Labs.

seibutu1 seibutu2

The professors’ offices and research laboratories of the School of Education’s Biology Specialization and of the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering’s Department in Integrative Bioscience and Biomedical Engineering are located here. Some laboratories conduct animal research into genetic information, hormones, and so on, while others carry out research on plants gathered in fieldwork.

Electrical Engineering and Bioscience Professors’ Offices and Research Labs

densei2 densei1

The professors’ offices and research laboratories of the School of Advanced Science and Engineering’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Bioscience and of the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering’s Department in Electrical Engineering and Bioscience are located here. They conduct diverse research centered on biological function based on organisms being information systems mediated by electrical signals.

Analytic Instruments Laboratory (MS/FC etc.)

kikishitu2 kikishitu1

Installed with large-sized equipment including mass spectrometers and flow cytometers, this laboratory is a shared facility used by many researchers within the university. In the adjacent control room is staff to train researchers in the use of the equipment and deal with any equipment problems.

Design / Manufacturing Laboratory

kikaikousakushitu

Installed with lathes and milling machines for manufacturing and machining, this laboratory is used especially for producing medical devices and medical robots. There is also staff to train researchers how to use the machines and give advice on manufacturing and machining.
