School Physician, Maeda Minoru, after returning from a study tour of school health facilities in Europe and the United States, proposed the establishment of a student health counseling center

1925	May 27 : Student Health Counseling Center established (within the Okuma Hall)
1935	Renamed Health Counseling Center (also serving as a welfare facility for faculty and staff) Moved to the basement of the former Building 2 (now Building 1)
1950	May 20: Clinic established (renovated and expanded from the former Health Counseling Center) ※Internal medicine, surgery, radiology, and dentistry
1957	Moved to the former Building 27 in front of the main gate of Waseda University (no longer exists)

Emphasized “preventive medicine,” focusing on preventing illness rather than treating patients

1960	Established a psychological counseling room within the facility to address mental health issues among students
1962	Began regular health checkups for all students (organized by the Student Affairs Office)
1964	Established the Student Health Insurance Association (with its office located within the Student Affairs Office’s Student Life Division)

There was a growing demand from students for a counseling center to address mental health issues, including lifestyle, academic concerns, anxiety, and other related matters.
※In 1953, the first student counseling center was established at the University of Tokyo and Yamaguchi University. It has been 72 years since the inception of student counseling.

1968	April 1, 1968: Student Counseling Center established (general counseling) ※ Located inside the clinic, 3rd floor of Building 27
1983	October 7 : “Clinic Regulations” established and implemented
1991	March : Clinic relocated to Building 25-2 (Health Management Center) adjacent to the Okuma Garden
1999	December 1 : Comprehensive Health Education Center established ※ Integration of the Clinic and Student Counseling Center • Building 25-2 / Toshima Branch Office, Okubo Branch Office, Tokorozawa Branch Office, Higher School Branch Office, Honjo Higher School Branch Office
2009	April 1 : Renamed as Health Support Center • Waseda Campus Building 25-2 / Waseda Branch Office, Nishi-Waseda Branch Office, Toshima Branch Office, Tokorozawa Branch Office, Honjo Branch Office • 2009 Academic Year: Student Counseling Room of the Information Production Systems Graduate School (IPS) opened at the Kitakyushu Campus
2018	November 28 : 50th Anniversary Symposium of the Student Counseling Room was held
2025	June 1 : The Student Counseling Room was transferred from the Health Support Center to the Student Diversity Center.
