なぜSSLとして応募したか Why I applied to be an SSL
私がSSLに応募した最大の理由は、日本の伝統芸能と海外留学という二つのバックグラウンドから得た学びや気づきを、他の学生にも届けたいと強く考えたからです。
私は小学生の頃から歌舞伎や日本舞踊を習い、日本の伝統文化に日常的に触れてきました。また高校1年次には1年間イギリスに留学し、日本の伝統芸能を現地の学生に紹介すると同時に、イギリスで学んだ演劇を日本へ持ち帰って共有するなど、双方向の異文化交流を経験しました。これらの体験は私のアイデンティティを形づくったものであり、他の人にはない大切な強みだと感じています。
ICCの活動を通じて、このような背景をもつ私だからこそ、早稲田における異文化交流の発展に貢献できると考え、SSLへの応募を決めました。
The primary reason I applied to SSL is my strong desire to share the experiences I have gained from my background in Japanese traditional performing arts and my study-abroad experience with other students.
Since elementary school, I have trained in traditional Japanese performing arts such as Kabuki and Nihon-buyo, which has given me many opportunities to engage deeply with Japanese culture. In addition, I spent a year studying in the United Kingdom during my first year of high school, where I introduced Japanese traditional performing arts to local students and, in turn, learned about British theatre to share with people in Japan. These intercultural experiences have shaped my identity, and I am confident that they represent a truly unique strength that sets me apart.
Through ICC activities, I believe that my background will allow me to contribute meaningfully to intercultural exchange at Waseda, and this is why I chose to apply to SSL.
SSLとして働くことへのやりがい Why I like being an SSL
まだまだSSLとしての経験は少ないですが、イベントに参加していただいた学生が楽しそうな顔をして帰っていく姿を見たときに、頑張って良かったという達成感を感じます。このようなイベントを作り上げる一員となれたこと、また早稲田における異文化交流の発信点になれたということを実感をもって体験することができました。
Although I am still new to SSL, I feel a strong sense of accomplishment when I see students who participated in our events leave with smiles on their faces. Being part of the team that creates such events, and witnessing firsthand how we can serve as a hub for intercultural exchange at Waseda has been a truly meaningful experience for me.
