なぜSSLとして応募したか Why I applied to be an SSL
個人的に、必要に応じて英語も使いながら、会話とビジネスの両方の日本語を学べる職場を望んでいました。日本語を一年間勉強してきましたが、日常会話の範囲を超えてスキルを伸ばすこと行き詰まりを感じています。
ICCは、先輩SSLのサポートのもと、英語を橋渡しとして使いながら、実際的なオフィス業務やビジネス・専門的な日本語を学ぶのに最適な環境です。
その他にも、留学中に途方に暮れたり、孤立したりという経験もありました。この機会を活かし、迷子になったと感じる留学生がサポートされ、必要な助けを得られる環境を育むために貢献したいと思います。世界のあらゆる場所からの人々と繋がることを楽しみにしています。
I personally wanted a workplace where I can learn both conversational and business Japanese while using English when necessary. I have been studying Japanese for a year, but I have reached a plateau in taking my skills beyond daily conversations.
The ICC, with the support of senior SSLs, is the perfect environment to learn practical office work and business/professional Japanese while using English as a bridge when necessary.
Besides that, I had times when I felt lost and isolated while studying abroad. I would like to take this chance to cultivate an environment where international students who find themselves lost feel supported and get the help they need. I look forward to connecting to people from every corner of the world.
SSLとして働くことへのやりがい Why I like being an SSL
正直に申し上げますと、まだ働き始めて一週間なので、判断するには時期尚早です。ただ、ICCの皆さんは非常に協力的で、いつも笑顔で指導してくださいます。この前向きで生産的な雰囲気から、SSLの皆さんが日本人学生と留学生の双方に向けたイベントの企画・運営に非常に真剣に取り組んでいることが伝わってきます。
まだ自分でイベントを企画する機会はありませんが、自分の情熱や関心を実際のイベントに変えられるという考えに魅力を感じています。企画したイベントを参加者とスタッフの双方が楽しんでいるのを見ることができたら、私にとって大きなやりがいとなるでしょう。
また、通勤に地下鉄で一時間かかる必要がない点も良いです。職場までは徒歩たったの2分です。
Frankly, I have only been working for a week so it is too early to tell. However, everyone in the ICC is highly supportive and they always guide me with a smile. The positive and productive atmosphere demonstrates that the SSLs are very serious about planning and running events for both Japanese and international students.
I haven’t had a chance to plan an event myself, but the idea that I can turn my passion and interests into actual events is appealing to me. Seeing both participants and the staff enjoying the event that I planned would be very rewarding to me.
Also, I don’t need to take a subway for an hour to get to work. It only takes me 2 minutes by walk.

Well, I would like to take a quote from one of my favourite songs (Ado – The World’s Continuation).
“I need you to hear it, need you to believe in something out there beyond the open sea, out in the starlight”.
Life is short, why not take ourselves beyond horizons and go out there feel the world?
