When thinking about fashion, we often think of a form of self-expression shown through bold and dramatic apparel worn by supermodels on a runway. But self-expression doesn’t have to be bold or flashy.
In fact, have you heard of ‘modest fashion’? Modest fashion is clothing that covers rather than reveals; it’s an inclusive design for people of all ages, races, cultures, and religions that is simple without sacrificing style.
Hana Tajima is a Muslim British-Japanese designer and visual artist currently based in New York. In Japan, she is known for her collaboration on modest womenswear with Uniqlo since 2015.
She has also worked with other artists and designers, and has been featured in major fashion magazines such as Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar. Besides fashion, Hana Tajima also uses her blog and social media as a platform to express support for empowering women and raise awareness on other social issues.
If you’re interested in fashion, art, or cultural diversity, this is the event for you!
Join us and you will learn more about diversity and creativity, by looking at it from the perspective of Hana Tajima as a designer and visual artist who comes from a diverse background.
As the world has become complicated, a world with modest clothing may feel a little different.
