“Books, people and travel enrich one’s life.”
Have any of you heard this phrase before?
These are the words of Mr. Haruaki Deguchi, President of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, who has visited 1200 cities around the world, read over 10,000 books and is uncommon as a traveler.
“A Complete History of Philosophy and Religion”, “Real Strength at 60 Years Old”, “Worldwide History”, etc. are just some of the bestsellers that Mr. Deguchi has produced and you’ve probably glimpsed them in many bookshops before.
Now, the Student Diversity Center is working together to create a special talk session and has invited Mr. Deguchi as the guest speaker!
“What is the secret to having a more fulfilling student life for students living in this era of Coronavirus?”
“What are the attitudes we need to create a society filled with diversity where everyone can live their life with the satisfaction of being themselves?”
These two themes will be covered deeply by Mr. Deguchi’s talk.
There are many students who have had to cancel their study abroad plans, seen their club activities disappear and the campus life they pictured confronted with the very different reality because of the Coronavirus.
In this situation, what ways of thinking and actions should we prioritise in order to give meaning to this irreplaceable time when we are students?
Furthermore, what attitudes do we need to place importance on for the future of this society that will soon become our responsibility.
“Standing on the shoulders of giants”, let’s spend some time thinking about the future of ourselves and our society.
We’re sure you’ll pick up some good hints about what to do from here on out!
