ICC Talk Session: MUJI Concept and Global Expansion – The globally accepted philosophy of “a simple, pleasant life” -Guest: Mr. Kei Suzuki (Head of HR & General Affairs Division, Legal & Intellectual Property Division, Ryohin Keikaku Co.Ltd.)


The element of “simple” has been deeply rooted in Japanese life since ancient times.
Then, why are concepts of “simple” and “high quality” accepted not only by people in Japan but also by people all over the world?

In this ICC talk session, we focus on the attractiveness of MUJI, a company which has developed a variety of simple and high quality products centered around people’s lives such as household goods and even food.

As our guest speaker, we invite Mr. Kei Suzuki who is the Director of Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd and has been involved in the global expansion of the company. He will give us an exciting talk regarding the concept behind their products that have won the hearts and minds of people around the world and global strategy!

Mr. Kei Suzuki

Kei Suzuki is Director of Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd. He currently serves as head of HR & General Affairs Division, Legal & Intellectual Property Division as well as Internal Audit Office at Ryohin Keikaku Co.,Ltd. known as MUJI.
Prior to MUJI, Kei firstly worked at overseas trading division of SEIBU Department Stores 1987. In 1995 Kei joined overseas business division of Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd. From 1998 to 2007, Kei lived in London and was the head of European MUJI business. After he came back to Japan from UK in 2007, Kei was head of Human Resource, Finance and Strategy Planning. From 2011, Kei was head of Household division, the biggest product category of MUJI, up to January 2017. Just before his current role, he has served as Head of Asia & Oceania Business Division.

Kei holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, USA.
