“Scent” is something that cannot be seen.
However, it has the magical power to capture a person’s heart in a moment.
Even in your everyday life have you not experienced a complete change in your mood because of a scent?
That power of scent goes as far back as ancient Egypt.
Scents were thought to have a mysterious connection to the gods, Cleopatra was said to have used the power of scent to captivate Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony, these days however many regular people use and enjoy scent as a fashion.
At the ICC we have invited Mr. Tetsu Amada, the executive officer of LUZ, the pioneering inventors of “Japan-made perfume: J-Scent”, to give a talk-session about his perspectives on perfume scents that evoke a feeling of Japan like roasted green-tea and hair oils used by sumo wrestlers.
The success of the creation process of fabulous “Japan-style Scents”, the reasons why they’re such a hit, the secrets surrounding their birth, wouldn’t you like to hear these stories while experiencing intercultural communication through scent?

Executive officer of “Scent creation company ‘LUZ’” which has one of Japan’s few specialist perfume laboratories. Founded in 1999. Established in 2001.
LUZ is a pioneer of Japanese style perfume, combining a luxurious sensibility with their vision of bringing color to the everyday lives of ordinary people.
In addition to their original brand, they also create perfumes for apparel brands, celebrities, artists and even anime characters which to this day
amounts to over 1000 different perfumes.
LUZ also runs fragrance experience courses and has a fragrance based spatial design business. It conducts fragrance research at its laboratory, manufacturing
at its factory and is constantly pushing the boundaries of scent creation and development every day.
He was also featured on the special NHK program “Kanosho Manyuaru Bi No Tsubo -Kousui-“ in 2010.
