Intercultural Communication Center(ICC)Waseda University

ICC New Year Concert -Beginning the New Year with the DePauw University Chamber Symphony- (Jan 17)
Performer: DePauw University Chamber Symphony & Tsugaru-jamisen Circle Mitsudomoe

It is often said that “Music has no borders”, that it is a communication tool that overcomes barriers like language or ethnic group.

This time, the ICC will hold a special concert only for one night with a visiting orchestra from a prestigious American school, Depauw University!

DePauw University is a private university from Greencastle, Indiana, and is one of Waseda’s overseas partner schools. Founded in 1837, the school is a liberal arts college with around 2500 students. Having one of the first schools of music, it often offers free concerts performed by selected students.

The orchestra which is visiting Japan this time has performed concerts not only in America but also in Europe and other parts of the world.
They will perform a special program for their visit to Japan, with Jazz and Pop music mixed in so even if you don’t usually enjoy classical music you will find something you like here!

Moreover, the Tsugaru-jamisen Circle  Mitsudomoe from Waseda University will show us a great shamisen performance for an opening act!

Let’s share the joy of the new year listening to your fellow students from America playing the last concert in Okuma Auditorium before it closes for refurbishment.
