Come join the ICC Japanese Culture Week! We’ve got a variety of fun and interesting events to let you experience Japanese culture while meeting new friends on campus. All events are free of charge and you can register easily online via MyWaseda. Come immerse yourself in Japanese culture!
Japanese Calligraphy Workshop
~ Try your hand at this timeless Japanese art! ~(Sept. 25th)
Enjoy a performance from our special guest calligrapher Mr. Taigo Watanabe.
Then try writing your favorite kanji or your own name beautifully with a calligraphy brush and ink set.

Ikebana Workshop (Sept. 26th)
-Try your hand at the Japanese art of flower arrangement-
Ikebana is the traditional Japanese art of arranging flowers for display. For this Ikebana event, a teacher from the Ikebana school – Sogetsu School – will give an Ikebana demonstration followed by an Ikebana workshop, where you can try making your own display.
After the workshop, you’ll be able to take the flowers with you as souvenirs that you can enjoy in your home! This is a great chance to see up close the skill of a professional Ikebana teacher and receive instruction from her directly.
