China is one of the closest and most familiar countries to Japan. Recently the number of tourists from China has been increasing and with this the sight of information in Chinese and the sound of Chinese language announcements on public transport has become an everyday occurrence.
Even though China is one country, it is made from a mix of a variety of cultures. For the gourmets the famous Cantonese Dim Sum and the super-spicy Sichuanese food are just two of a huge variety of cuisine. The pronunciation of the language also varies widely depending on the area of the country, so much so that people from different areas of China often cannot understand each other very well.
At this “Chinese Culture Salon”, in order to give you a deeper understanding of China, we will bring together Chinese students from many different parts of China to introduce their home areas to you. They will talk about life in their hometowns, local sightseeing spots, student life in China and much more.
You can also participate in our quiz corner where you can win some cool prizes, and after the presentations you can relax and enjoy chatting with the presenters and other participants in the mixing time. During the mixing time you can try some of our recommended Chinese tea, or have a taste of refreshingly cool sweets which are just perfect for the hot humid season and will definitely look cool on your social media page too!
So if you’re studying Chinese, if you want to go to China for a holiday, or you are interested in China-Japan relations and want to work in a job with a deep connection between the two countries, please come and join us!
