Sawatdee ka (Hello)!
This year marks the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Thailand!
Most of you are probably familiar with Thailand or Thai culture. Not only is it a popular holiday destination but you can see Thai restaurants dotted all over Tokyo. And nothing demonstrated the enduring popularity of Thai culture in Japan better than this summer’s “Thai Festival” in Yoyogi Park which attracted over 300,000 people!
At this ICC event, with the cooperation of the Thai student body here at Waseda, you can feel the charm of Thai culture through a variety of activities we have for you.
To start there will presentations from Thai students about the various areas of Thailand, then a mini Thai language lesson, a traditional games booth and a sightseeing information booth where you can get recommendations about where to go and what to see from Thai people themselves!
And then there is the highlight of the event, a dance performance by the “Thai Royal Dance Troupe”, a professional dance group certified by the Thai Ministry of Culture. The delicate and supple finger and body movements in the dance work together to create a rich emotional expression that is certainly not to be missed!
So whether you love Thailand or have never been before, come and join us at this exciting event and enjoy learning more about this fascinating country!
