Kazakh ballet has been well known since the former Soviet Union era and is renowned for its high level of artistic character. In 2013, central Asia’s largest theater was completed in the Kazakh capital of Astana and will surely elevate the ballet’s status even further.
Although focusing on ballet, students also study various ethnic styles and the school has won several national prizes for its superior dancers.
This May, we’ve invited the Kazakhstan National Almaty Ballet School to give a special performance right here at Waseda University.
Also performing at the event will be Hanayagi Yoshijiro VI, a 22 year old e-school student at the Faculty of Human Sciences and a member of the Hanayagi School of Japanese Dance who has performed at the National Theater and the Kabuki-za theater in Tokyo.
This is a wonderful opportunity to see the most promising dancers of tomorrow up close. Don’t miss it!
