In association with Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU), the ICC is holding an English Discussion Cafe where students from diverse backgrounds and departments can freely discuss current international issues in an open environment.
Last semester, together with students from TMDU, we had a lively discussion about “Japan’s Low Birth Rate”.
This time we will be visiting the TMDU Yushima-campus for a new round of discussions regarding “Health Inequalities”.
“If you come down with severe illness now, will you recover smoothly?”.
The answer to this question might be very different depending on which city or country you are living in.
Healthcare is an indispensable part of our life whether you are in Japan or in any other countries of the world, but various health inequalities are occurring because of disparity between different regions, disparity in economic development or even insurance systems.
What is causing these inequalities? What kind of problems are we facing and what are the possible solutions?
Why not sit down with future medical professionals and discuss these topics together?
For this event no prior knowledge of medicine or specialist English terminology is required. International students are more than welcome to share information about the situation in their own countries as well!
