International students enrolled at Waseda University will sing their hearts out in Japanese and the winner will be decided by a prestigious judging panel. There were over 51 entries who competed in the qualifying rounds and now the 12 finalists will battle it out in the Grand Final!
This event features the winner of last year’s Karaoke World Championship in Finland and current SILS staff member, Mr. Teruhisa Tanaka, as a judge and guest singer.
Also the winner of the special “Audience Choice Award” will be decided by the audience at the event!
So which international student is the best singer on Waseda’s global campus?? Watch, listen and let Waseda’s international students move you with their talents!
Students from China, Germany, Italy, Korea, Romania, Singapore, Taiwan & Vietnam from various departments (FINAL lineup) will sing Japanese hits ranging from 1980’s pop all the way to present day rock!

Mr. Teruhisa Tanaka
Began working at Waseda University after graduating from Waseda’s School of Political Science and Economics in 2002.
First worked in the International Division and currently works at School of International Liberal Studies where his duties include managing entrance exams and student recruitment.
After his success on NHK’s “Nodo Jiman” TV show as a Waseda student he went on to appear in several national karaoke competitions.
In 2003 he received an award from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in a national competition. He came first in the Karaoke World Championships men’s category in 2013 (performance video)
