Ikebana is the traditional Japanese art of arranging flowers for display.For this Ikebana event, the headmaster of one of the premier ikebana schools will give an ikebana demonstration followed by an ikebana workshop, where you can try making your own display. This is a great chance to see up close the skill of a master ikebana artist and receive instruction from him.
Part 1 2:30-4:15pm Ikebana Demonstration

- Eligibility: Waseda students (international students highly welcome)

Born in Tokyo. Began studying flowers at a young age, and starting making ikebana from age 17.
1967: Studied interior design in New York.
1972: Became Vice-Headmaster, 1983, became the third Headmaster of the Ichiyo School of Ikebana.Has been giving ikebana demonstrations (ikebana live)for over 30 years.Has received recognition internationally, visiting 38countries, 86 cities, and has given over 180 demonstrations overseas. Has made multiple television appearances on NHK and BS Digital High Vision.
