What comes to mind when you hear the term “folk dance”?
Some of you might think it looks difficult or feel that it is not for you.
However, folk dance is actually a universal form of communication that anyone can enjoy. Even without words, moving your body to the same rhythm allows you to connect with others.
At this ICC event, you will have the opportunity to experience different cultures through folk dance. Through a combination of a short lecture, live performances, and an interactive dance session, participants can both enjoy about and experience various traditional dances from around the world.
By engaging in this non-verbal form of communication, you will be able to physically feel cultural differences and backgrounds while naturally connecting with other participants.
This event is perfect for those interested in different cultures, those who want to try something new, or those who may not feel confident communicating in words but still wish to connect with others.

The University of Tokyo & Ochanomizu University Folk Dance Club
Since our founding in 1962, we have been exploring folk dances from around the world for over half a century, primarily with students from the University of Tokyo and Ochanomizu University.
We engage in a wide variety of dance styles, ranging from sharp and powerful dances to graceful and supple dances, as well as passionate couple dances performed by pairs. We enjoy our daily activities while placing great importance on cultural exchange, such as workshops led by local dancers, trying on traditional costumes, and interacting with students from other universities.
