If you’re talking about Japanese pop culture, the Weekly SHONEN JUMP magazine is a must!
Published in Japan by SHUEISHA Inc. in 1968, Weekly SHONEN JUMP is the cradle of many iconic manga series, loved by Japanese people and foreigners as well.

In order to reach non-Japanese speaking fans around the world, Weekly SHONEN JUMP has been translated into English for more than10 years and sold in many different countries, such as the U.S., Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa.

The company responsible for this advancement is VIZ Media, a leader in the publishing and distribution of Japanese manga for English speaking audiences.
This time, Ken Sasaki, President and CEO of VIZMedia, will come to Waseda and talk about the particularities of translating and publishing Japanese manga for foreign audiences.

How to adapt such a characteristic part of Japanese culture for international readers?
How did VIZ Media manage to cross cultural borders and build a base for Japanese manga’s expansion and success in other countries?
Don’t miss this rare chance to learn about the international manga publishing world!
