ICC Chinese Culture Night Featuring Sichuan -The Land of Abundance- (Dec. 8th)

Poster

Lying in the inland area of China is the province of Sichuan.
Filled with unique natural scenery and lush environments, it is called “The Land of Abundance” by Chinese people.
You can feel the history and heritage of China in places like Dujiangyan City or Jiuzhaigou National Park, and of course there is the wildly popular Giant Panda nature reserve in one of the largest forests in the world, a paradise for rare wild animals.

And of course, when you think of Sichuan, you obviously think of the food!
Mapo Tofu, Fuqi Feipian and Chicken in Mala Sauce are just some of the famous Chinese dishes that originated in Sichuan, which stands alongside Beijing, Shanghai and Canton as one of the four great gastronomic areas of Chinese cuisine.

In this event, we want you to feel the charms of Sichuan’s abundance both in nature and heritage.
There will be presentations by International students from Sichuan as well as by the owner and chef of an authentic Sichuan restaurant here in Tokyo.

A rare performance of the Sichuanese “Bian Lian (Face Change) Opera” also will be performed during this event. And after that,we will have café time with some Sichuanese food kindly provided by our guest Sichuanese restaurant owner-chef.

Of course the night is not limited to Sichuan, so if you want to know about Chinese culture, or are thinking of going on holiday to China, please come and join us for this great event!
