Waseda University Sumo Club (Website・Instagram)
With over 100 years of history since its founding, the Sumo Club is a varsity athletic club that upholds the tradition of sumo as Japan’s national sport and the heritage of Waseda University. Valuing independence and the balance of academics and athletics, members take on new challenges each day.
Though small in number, the club is dedicated to carrying its proud legacy into the next century by actively recruiting new members. Beyond training, they also engage with the community by joining the university’s annual Sports Festa in September and supporting local children’s sumo events.
