In association with Tokyo Medical and Dental University, the ICC is holding an English Discussion Cafe where students from diverse backgrounds and departments can freely discuss current international issues in an open environment.
Last fall semester we invited students from Tokyo Medical and Dental University to Waseda for a lively discussion about “Globalization: Healthcare & Society”.
This time Waseda students will get to visit the Tokyo Medical and Dental University campus for a second round of discussions regarding “Japan’s Low Birth Rate”.
Issues such as gender, workings environments, work-life balance, the hiring of foreign workers and of course declining birth rates all greatly affect our futures. But what is causing these problems? How can we face, confront and ultimately solve these complex issues? Why not sit down with future medical professionals and discuss these topics together?
For this event no prior knowledge of medicine or specialist English terminology is required. Also as Japan is not the only country currently struggling with a low birth rate, international students are welcome to share information about the situation in their own countries too!
