Why I wanted to be an SSL なぜSSLとして応募したか
I am really grateful and happy to join Waseda. However, when I first started at Waseda, it was so overwhelming that I had trouble connecting with people. At that time, the thing that helped me get back on my feet was none other than ICC. I joined an ICC event called “Welcome Cafe” where I met many foreign students like me. In a way, ICC is a place for foreign students like me who can get overwhelmed and lost. The staff at ICC are very warm with welcoming smiles. I was really surprised when I found out that most of the staff are students, which I think is amazing. Furthermore, ICC organizes a lot of culture festivals. I think not many people are aware of my country, Myanmar and its culture. Therefore, I am hoping to share something about Myanmar through ICC. That is why I decided to join ICC as an SSL.
私は早稲田に入学することができてとても嬉しく思いましたが、最初はなかなか人との関係を作れませんでした。留学生である私は早稲田という圧倒的な環境に馴染めなかったです。その時、私を助けてくれたのはICCでした。ICCのウェルカムカフェに参加して、たくさんの友達に出会いました。ICCは私のような道に迷っている留学生たちを導いてくれる場所です。スタッフの皆さんも笑顔で歓迎してくれました。また、スタッフのほとんどが早稲田の学生であることを知ってビックリしました。SSLとして活躍している学生スタッフたちはとてもかっこよかったです。そして、ICCは色々な文化交流イベントを行っているため、私も自分の国や文化をシェアしたいと思いました。
Rewarding moments as an SSL SSLとして働くことへのやりがい
I am still new and have many things to learn. However, in my opinion, the rewarding things for an SSL are being able to gain various skills, such as communication skills, language skills, being able to learn about various cultures, making friends and working in a team. I am certain that I will experience many rewarding moments from now on as well.
SSL として勤務し始めたのはあまり時間が経っていないのでまだまだ学ぶことが多いです。それでも、SSLとして働くことへのやりがいと言えばコミュニケーションスキル、言語力のような色々なスキルを身につけること、異文化を理解し、仲間を作り、チームで動くことなどだと思います。これからも、私は色々経験してたくさん学んで成長していくことになると信じています。
