Research Theme
The Institute of Architecture and Architectural Engineering, established in April 2005, continues to conduct research activities and disseminate information with all faculty members of the departmentof Architecture.
The situation surrounding architecture and architectural engineering has changed dramatically in recent years, including the occurrence of various disasters and major changes in the global and urban environment. With the aim of building a research framework that responds to these changes and actively disseminating information, the Institute of Architectural and Architectural Engineering conducts activities that are inextricably linked to the department of Architecture.
The activities of individual institute members with achievements in the fields of architectural history, architectural design, urban planning, building structure, building environment, and building production, as well as collaborative research activities by multiple institute members, will be integrated as
“practical research on comprehensive design connecting people, architecture, cities, and nature,” the results of which will be published in the “Waseda Architectural Journal” each fiscal year. In addition, the Institute will invite prominent researchers in various fields and hold seminars on advanced architectural research four to five times a year.
