Advancing Regional Collaboration Studies and Systematizing Practice-Based Knowledge to Develop University-Led Models for Solving Regional Challenges

This Institute aims to advance Regional Collaboration Studies as an emerging academic discipline by systematizing regional collaboration and community engagement—key social missions of the university—and linking them directly with real-world practice.
Drawing upon the diverse expertise of researchers across the university and the accumulated experiential knowledge from prior regional initiatives, the Institute will generate both interdisciplinary “integrated knowledge” and field-based “practice-based knowledge.” These outcomes will serve as the foundation for conducting fieldwork, collaborative research with local partners, and project-based learning (PBL) led by students. Through these efforts, the Institute will foster human resources equipped with strong implementation skills and build sustainable, co-creative partnerships between the university and regional communities.
Ultimately, the Institute seeks to integrate the outcomes of its research, education, and engagement to present a transferable, university-driven model for addressing complex regional issues.

Research Summary

The Institute for Comprehensive Regional Partnership is an interdisciplinary and practice-oriented research center dedicated to advancing the university’s social mission of regional collaboration and community engagement. By integrating research, education, and social contribution, the Institute seeks to systematize university-led regional engagement through the continuous integration of theory and practice. Furthermore, it aims to organically connect diverse internal expertise with accumulated experience in regional collaboration in order to generate both comprehensive knowledge (“Sogo-chi”) and practical knowledge (“Jissen-chi”) capable of addressing increasingly complex regional challenges.

Through field-based research and project-oriented initiatives conducted in collaboration with local communities, the Institute develops and proposes co-creative and sustainable models of partnership between universities and regions. In doing so, it seeks to advance both the academic development and the practical implementation of Regional Collaboration Studies.
