ジェニファー・ゲスト先生は、平安期および中世の日本における漢文の教育や学習、また言語思想を主たる研究対象として研究を蓄積してこられました。今回のご講演では、『俊頼髄脳』を取り上げ、漢語、漢文と歌言葉の関係について具体的事例とともにお話しいただきます。和漢のことばと文学の双方にわたる今回のご講演の内容は、日本語・日本文学の研究に広くかかわる問題であり、学生、大学院生をはじめ、関連領域に関心をもつ多くの方々にとって有益かつ示唆に富むものです。ご講演は英語によって行われ、グローバルな視野から日本文学を考える貴重な機会を提供するものでもあります。

講演者プロフィール

Jennifer Guest is Associate Professor of Japanese at the University of Oxford and a fellow of the Queen’s College, where she teaches classical Japanese language and literature. Her research focuses on the reception of classical Chinese texts and modes of writing in premodern Japan, particularly within court culture of the tenth to thirteenth centuries, and on comparative approaches to thinking about translation, literary education, and the spread of literary languages.
