テーマ
「東アジアにおける人文学の復興」
“Reconstruction of the Humanities in East Asia.”
数千年の歴史をかえりみるとき、東アジア世界が経てきた道のりは決して平坦なものではありませんでした。人文学もまた、そのような歴史によって規定されるところがあったはずです。いまグローバル化という歴史の転換点に立って、19世紀以来の近代東アジアにおける人文学の構造を明らかにし、それに対する批判的な検討のうえに新たな時代の人文学を構築することは意義深いことであると信じます。このたびのテーマの意図するところは、このようなものです。
When we reflect on its thousands of years of history, we notice the road that East Asia has passed was never smooth. The humanities must also have been somehow formed by such history. We believe it must be meaningful to reveal the construction of the humanities in modern East Asia from the nineteenth century onward, and to reconstruct the humanities for this new age based on the critical consideration against it, in the turning point like globalization today. This is significance of this forum’s theme.
