After completing my undergraduate studies from Chulalongkorn University, I decided to enroll at GSICCS because the program offers a major that I am most interested in, culture and communication, which is closely related to what I have studied for my undergraduate program, Language and Culture. Also, I particularly chose GSICCS because I have participated in an exchange program at SILS a few years back and from then on, I have always wanted to continue my graduate studies here at Waseda where there is a great faculty members as well as pleasant campus environment. I have always been interested in studying more deeply about cultural theories and here at GSICCS, in Professor Aso’s ‘Culture and Translation’ seminar, I have been taught to further enhance my knowledge regarding issues such that of: race and identity, gender, psychoanalysis, or postcolonial studies, to name a few. All of which would help me carry out my research on the topic of Demythifying Madame Butterfly Stereotypes. After completing GSICCS graduate program, I would like to continue the PhD program to further develop my Masters thesis. In the future, I hope to use the knowledge and my research to contribute to enrich the socio-cultural living condition of people especially women in my home country or perhaps to work in the academic field i.e., to teach and expand my experiences and education I learn in GSICCS at the university some day.
