Message
When I made the decision to apply for Doctoral Programs, I knew I wanted to be in an interdisciplinary environment that would push and challenge me as a researcher. GSICCS was the natural choice for me because the school offered a rigorous interdisciplinary approach that focused on guiding the students in their area of research and across other disciplines. One of the strengths of the program in GSICCS is how it brings three areas of study, language, culture, and society under a common theme of International Communications. This, in addition to, the diverse backgrounds and experiences of both faculty and students, creates a truly intellectually engaging and enjoyable learning environment.
In my own area of research, social media and gender perceptions in the Middle East, there is no shortage of information, support and guidance from both faculty and students alike. As a member of Dr Graham Law’s seminar, I am fortunate to be in a diverse environment that enriches my life on an academic and personal level.
In the future, I hope to find a place for myself in academia and to continue researching.
