The Institute for Business and Finance was established as a research institute attached to the Graduate School of Business and Finance (Waseda Business School) within the Faculty of Commerce, Waseda University.

The Faculty of Commerce, Waseda University, has the Graduate School of Commerce, which is an academic-oriented school designed for the cultivation of researchers, among others, the Graduate School of Accountancy, which is designed for those seeking to obtain highly specialized knowledge in accounting and a wide variety of skills in the field of business, and the Graduate School of Business and Finance, a practical learning-oriented school designed for those seeking to obtain management skills.
