”That is how we have survived” International Forum on the “Now” of Words through the Voices of Ukrainian Evacuees
The threat of the destruction war causes gradually reshapes the meanings of the words we use in everyday life. The words people utter when fleeing the horrors of war give this reality concrete expression.
In this forum, we will examine where we find ourselves in terms of conflict and “peace” through The Dictionary of War (戦争語彙集), a newly published collection of testimonials. Through readings, music, discussion, and contemplation across generational and geographical lines, we would like to think about and feel the deep connection – uncaptured in news coverage – between war and words, and share it with you all, including with those young people on whose shoulders the future rests.
