To achieve the transmission and propagation of Japanese culture, the Yanai Initiative has produced a short animation film “Extremely Short” by the author Hideo Furukawa and the animation artist Koji Yamamura as the first in the series of “Bungaku Bideo”.
This work, which is animated to the soundtrack of the authors themselves reading from their own voices, has been selected for the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes International Film Festival and other international film festivals around the world, and has become a hot topic of conversation.
This is an opportunity for the audience to see this work firsthand. The screening of the film will be followed by a talk by the collaborators on episodes from the production of the film and other behind-the-scenes stories from the production site.
Mr. Yamamura will also talk about comparisons between Japan and the rest of the world in terms of animation production.
